Explosion proof flame arrester is one of the types of flame arrestor, which is used to prevent the flame spread of flammable gas and liquid and prevent the explosion caused by tempering. The flame retardant layer in this kind of flame arrester is usually made of stainless steel strip or copper nickel alloy material. The size of the ripple is determined by the nature of the gas and the flame stopping speed.

There are two types of corrugated fire-retardant layer: one is composed of corrugated sheet material folded in two directions, and many small pores and channels are separated between the waves, which provides a zigzag channel for the flame. The other is composed of corrugated thin plate and flat plate alternately winding on the central axis to form a stack of fire retardant layers with triangular pores. According to the design requirements, the fire retardant layers with different diameters, thicknesses and pores can be made.

The thickness of commonly used corrugated sheet is 0.1 ~ 0.3 mm, and the height of corrugated sheet is generally 0.2 mm, 0.3 mm, 0.5 mm, 0.7 mm and 1.2 mm, which should be determined according to the flame speed.

How to install flame arrester?

1. Remove the protective cover of all flanges and discard all packing materials.

2. Check the valve seat and the matching flange gasket on the valve seat surface. It is clean, flat, without scratches and tool marks.

3. Check the gasket to make the material suitable for the application.

4. Lubricate all studs and nuts with a suitable thread lubricant. If the fastener is high temperature or stainless steel material, use anti seize compound, such as molybdenum disulfide.

5. Inner gasket of bolt ring.

6. Set the flame arrester shell flange and pipeline flange butt joint, pay attention to the position of the lifting handle and top nut of the fire retardant element, so as to facilitate the removal of the flame arrester element in the future.
